Board-Appointed Committees

Elementary Second Language Study Committee

Hit Counter

The School Board and district will consider the feasibility of a second language offering at the elementary level. The Board has appointed a study committee comprised of teachers, administrative staff, parents, and representatives from the Lake Oswego community at large.  The committee will consider the pros and cons of second language models currently used in schools across the U.S. and will evaluate these programs based on our own unique needs as a community and school district.  The committee will consider the size, configuration and ability of our community and schools to both support and sustain a second language program, keeping in mind that any proposed model of instruction must be compatible with our unique needs.

The committee was appointed on November 2, 2009, and will hold meetings during the months of November 2009 through March 2010.  The goal will be to present a proposal to the School Board in April 2010 for consideration.
