Board-Appointed Committees

Program Committee

Hit Counter

The Program Committee was appointed in October 2006.

School Board Charge to the Program Committee:

The Lake Oswego School Board will appoint an ad hoc Program Committee that will serve in an advisory capacity to the board.

The Program Committee will be charged with considering other educational program offerings, thereby assisting the board in its objective to provide the most program value given the available resources.

The Program Committees charge will encompass the following:

  • The committee will be taking a look at programs other districts and private schools may be offering, looking at their value, and considering if they would be possible or desirable for the Lake Oswego School District .

  • The committee will consider the cost of potential program offerings:

    • Whether they might be implemented for added value at no cost;

    • Whether programs have a cost attached that would require replacing something the district is already offering in order to implement them;

    • Whether programs could be offered on a tuition basis.

  • The committee could also consider how school configuration changes might alter the potential for more program offerings, and what the associated trade-offs would be.

The Program Committee will be charged with delivering a report of its findings to the School Board. The Program Committee will not be asked to make a recommendation regarding program offerings.

The School Board will appoint patrons to serve on the committee through an application process.
