Five Seniors Named Presidential Scholars Candidates

January, 2011

Five high school seniors from the Lake Oswego School District have been selected as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program.

Congratulations to Matthew Krane, Lakeridge High School; Emily Gaddis, Lake Oswego High School; Elijah Kolmes, Lake Oswego High School; Kemy Lin, Lake Oswego High School; and John Murray, Lake Oswego High School.

The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor some of the nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The program is administered by the US Department of Education. Each year up to 141 students are named as Presidential Scholars.

Candidates are selected by the program based on their exceptional scores on the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment. Candidates are invited to submit materials for review, including essays, self-assessments, secondary school reports and transcripts. Semifinalists will be identified in early April.

Congratulations to these students for their outstanding academic achievement.
