Diplomas and Alternatives

Lake Oswego District Diploma

The Lake Oswego District Diploma requires 25 credits. Students earning this diploma will take more English, math, and science than required by the state. This diploma will be awarded to a student who has met attendance requirements and has earned course credits based on performance requirements. All ninth graders will begin earning credits towards this diploma unless they are receiving special education and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team determines a different diploma option is more appropriate.

Oregon Standard Diploma

This diploma requires 22 credits, and shall be awarded to a student who has met attendance requirements and has earned course credits based on performance requirements of the State of Oregon. In most circumstances this option would not be considered until the end of a student's sophomore or junior year, and would require review by the administrator, counselor, parent, and student. The principal would give final approval for this option as outlined in district policy. This option is also available for special education students as recommended by the IEP team.

Basic Diploma

The Basic Diploma is designed for special education students. A student seeking this diploma will need to earn 22 credits based on performance requirements. Basic courses in the four core areas of English, social studies, science, and math will be taught by special education teachers with adaptations to content, materials, assessment, and grading. Students earning this diploma are eligible for special education transition services to age 21.
